/ 16 July 2023

THE BOARD of Regents of University of the Philippines gave the go signal to UP Los Baños in offering Master of Arts in Environmental and Development Planning and the adoption of the Associate in Arts-Sports Studies.

UPLB said MAEnP aims to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to become proficient environmental and development planning leaders and practitioners.

“MAEnP graduates will be at the forefront of local, regional, and national development as professional leaders equipped with environmental planning and research knowledge and capable of directing and influencing national development,” the school said.

“MAEnP proponents, the faculty of the Department of Community and Environmental Resources Planning of the College of Human Ecology, believe that expertise in EnP is crucial in this volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world that needs big data, science-based decisions, and technology to be integrated into development planning,” it added.

UPLB earlier instituted the Diploma in Environmental Planning, which is a ladderized program to the MAEnP.

As adoption of the UP Diliman program, the AASS will be housed at the Department of Human Kinetics at the College of Arts and Sciences.

“It is an initial endeavor of DHK-CAS, the first to offer the program in Region IV, to make UPLB the center for quality sports development in Region IV,” the university said.

“AASS will train young athletes to become skilled professionals who have enhanced their skills and pursued careers in sports. They will also have the choice to pursue bachelor’s degrees in related fields upon finishing the program,” it added.
