LEYTE NORMAL U STUDENTS BAG AWARDS IN NAT’L POVERTY CONFERENCE
STUDENTS of the Leyte Normal University bagged the Champion for Best Short Film award in the 5th National Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development.
The documentary entitled “Pagpundir han Eroy” (A Mother’s Waning Light) was created by Senior Communication students Jennylyn Joy Cagasan, Viena Mika Corsanes, Karl Byron De La Cruz, Rowenbeth Doños, Angel Hortilano, Karl Jones Niego, Arra Mae Oclares, and Queen Jenny Rose Yan.
Meanwhile, the documentary film “Lastikman” produced by Communication juniors Gil Romero, Celeste Hannah Abing, Trixie Anne Nicole Calvo, Kyla Shane Corong, Shenah Mae Docena, Grace Ann Enage, Hazel Llaneta, Getly Olarte, and Mark Ronan Ting got the most number of reactions, comments, and shares on Facebook, thus was awarded as People’s Choice.
The research work of LNU faculty Dr. Ursula M. Labita, Joyce B. Lopez, Dr. Nilda V. Jamora, and Dr. Las Johansen B. Caluza titled “Returning Overseas Filipino Worker’s Business Venture During Pandemic: A Descriptive Phenomenology” was recognized as a qualifier for Most Outstanding Paper and Best Paper.
The conference is a gathering of the academe, local government units, national line agencies, and institutions in looking for solutions to poverty.
