LEB ISSUES NOTICE ON UM COLLEGE OF LAW CLOSURE
THE Legal Education Board (LEB) has ordered the closure of the University of Manila – College of Law effective Academic Year 2024-2025, citing its “failure to meet the minimum standards set.”
According to the LEB, the decision was made following a thorough evaluation of the institution’s compliance with legal education standards and regulatory requirements.
LEB clarified that the University had already been notified of the closure order as early as June 5, 2024. However, it has received reports that the school continues to accept enrollees.
The LEB emphasized that the notice was issued to warn the public that it does not recognize enrollment in the said institution.
The closure, LEB said, stemmed from the school’s poor performance in the Bar examinations, failure to meet the prescribed curriculum and academic standards for legal education, and deficiencies in institutional facilities and resources necessary for quality legal instruction.
