A FILIPINO scientist is training researchers at Isabela State University to help improve the animal breeding capacity of farms in the province.

Dr. Miguel Mervin Pajate, a scientist and expert in the field of embryo transfer who has been practicing in Australia, came back to the country for the training program.

The training is under the ‘Balik Scientist Program’ of the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development.

The researchers are from the ISU-School of Veterinary Medicine and College of Agriculture, Cagayan Valley Small Ruminants Research Center, and Quirino State University.

“With embryo transfer, we can both maximize the superiority of male and female animal breeders and improve the rate of genetic improvement,” ISU said.
