MAKATI-BASED higher education institution iACADEMY marked a historic moment on Tuesday as Huawei, a global technology leader, officially recognized and rewarded the national champions from the school for their stellar performance in the Huawei ICT 2023-2024 competition.
The Huawei 2023-2024 ICT competition in the Philippines concluded on December 15, 2023, revealing the winning teams advancing to the regional round. The competition showcased exceptional talent and expertise in Information and Communication Technology, with 583 students from 47 schools participating in the Cloud, Network, and Computing tracks, and 57 students from 11 academies participating in the Innovation track.
iACADEMY participated in the Computing track, a recent addition to Huawei’s offerings, utilizing open-source programming languages, specifically Open Euler and Open Gauss. Additionally, the upcoming Regional International Competition will introduce another language, adding a layer of complexity and diversity to the competition.
Earning the coveted title in the Computing Track, iACADEMY’s champions are now preparing to take their talents to the global stage as they gear up for the Huawei Regional Competition. This remarkable achievement not only solidifies their position as national frontrunners but also presents an opportunity for them to showcase their exceptional skills on an international platform.
“We are immensely proud of their achievements, and we believe that their journey to the Huawei Regional Competition is a testament to the high standard of education and innovation fostered at iACADEMY,” said Cecilia Sy, Vice President for Academics at iACADEMY.
With the next phase of the competition slated to occur on or before February 28, 2024, iACADEMY’s champions, Nicholas Barilea, Ryan Caesar Itang, and Justine Benedict Umali are diligently honing their skills for the full online exam. Emphasizing fair play and equal opportunity, the competition is synchronized with the ASEAN region, setting the stage for a truly competitive and inclusive experience.
The climax of this exhilarating journey will unfold in Jakarta during the first week of April, where the culminating event and awarding ceremony will take place. This prestigious gathering will unite winners from diverse regions, providing a platform to celebrate their achievements before venturing into the ultimate test of skills at the global competition in Shenzhen, China.
“With each competition, our students demonstrate a level of skill and dedication that is truly commendable. The Huawei ICT competition has been an excellent platform for our students to challenge themselves and showcase their talents. We are confident that our champions will not only make an impact at the regional level but will also position iACADEMY prominently on the global map of excellence,” said Dean Francisco Napalit, Dean for the School of Computing at iACADEMY.
