HIGHER EDUCATION IMPACT RANKING ALSO MATTERS — UST OFFICIAL
A FACULTY member of the University of Santo Tomas said that the Time Higher Education Impact Ranking is also important because it measures a school’s contribution to the community.
In a webinar hosted by the Commission on Higher Education, Engr. Nestor Ong, Deputy Director of the Office of QS/THE rankings, said UST initiated projects that benefit both the school and communities.
These projects were done in partnership with local governments, non-government institutions and community leaders.
In THE Impact rankings, UST scored high in Good Health and Well-being, Clean Water and Sanitation and Life Below Water.
The Impact Rankings is different from the World University rankings that HEIs use to measure academic competitiveness.
Instead of measuring areas such as student-faculty ratio, international students, and research productivity, the Impact Rankings look into how universities help make a difference in their local communities using Sustainable Development Goals as basis.
