FORMER UST PROF APPOINTED AS PRESIDENT OF TRANSCO
A FORMER professor from the University of Santo Tomas was appointed as the president of the National Transmission Corporation.
Engr. Fortunato Leynes, also a former Officer-in-Charge of the Industry, Government, Academe, and Alumni Relations Program of UST, assumed his new post last November 10, 2023.
As the president of TransCo, Leynes will oversee the direction and operations of the corporation “to ensure alignment with strategic goals and objectives while faithfully executing the corporation’s mandates.”
Leynes has garnered acclaim for his exceptional achievements in the energy sector, earning recognition and commendations on both local and international fronts.
Among those accolades are the 2014 Outstanding Electrical Engineer of the Philippines award bestowed by the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission, the Excellence Award for Publication and Rating from Nigeria, and the prestigious 2018 Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame Award UST.
Beyond his numerous accolades, Leynes has contributed significantly to academia, serving as a faculty member at UST, Mapua Institute of Technology, Far Eastern University, and the Meralco Power Academy.
