FEU STUDENT WINS BEST DIRECTOR AT UP PRIDE FILM FESTIVALFEU STUDENT WINS BEST DIRECTOR AT UP PRIDE FILM FESTIVAL
A STUDENT filmmaker from Far Eastern University earned two major honors at the UP Pride Film Festival 2025: Cine LagabLove.
NOMO KWEEN: The Last Woman Standing, directed by FEU student LA Oraza, won Best Director and Best Editing for Gcay Reyes at the annual event celebrating queer stories of identity, resistance, and pride.
The film explores Salle’s unapologetic online persona and personal struggles, offering an unfiltered portrait of grief, survival, and authenticity amid the noise of social media fame.
Oraza said the documentary was driven by the need to highlight untold stories within the LGBTQIA+ community, noting that the film does not aim to “sanitize or rebrand” Salle’s image but to present her truthfully.
Co-written by FEU Communication students Yel Pimentel and Renz Dotillos, the documentary was produced under the supervision of lecturer Seymour Sanchez and supported by Chroma Films, Dekada ’90 Films, Cai Creatives, and Hundred Digits.
The film has also earned recognition in other competitions, including the TamDokyu Fest and the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Gawad Alternatibo, further solidifying its place as a powerful testament to queer storytelling in Philippine cinema.
