FEU PARTNERS WITH IDP EDUCATION FOR NEW ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST
THE FAR Eastern University partnered with the IDP Education to launch a new English proficiency test called “ENVOY.”
IDP Education is a company responsible for managing the International English Language Testing System.
The partnership aims to enhance the English proficiency of FEU students, with a survey revealing that 86 percent of FEU students aspire to study abroad.
Marko Antonio Da Silva, Center for Learning Enrichment and Research for Students Director, said that ENVOY is set to be implemented in September and will be a mandatory test for all students at FEU.
The certification will align with the Test of English as a Foreign Language standards, ensuring students meet global competitiveness requirements.
Faculty members will undergo training to effectively integrate the ENVOY test into the curriculum starting this month.
The initiative will also utilize an AI-powered app from ENVOY to assist in assessing students’ English proficiency, with evaluations conducted at the beginning of their first year and at the end of their fourth year, according to FEU.
This program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a global environment. The use of AI in this context provides a more accurate assessment of students’ abilities, helping them prepare for international opportunities, it added.
Catherine Catamora, Director of EdTech, highlighted that the separate, web-based app offers comprehensive support to students and faculty.
