FEU HS LAUNCHES ‘PROJECT HOPE’ TO HELP FEMALE DETAINEES

/ 29 July 2023

TO PROVIDE livelihood and improve the skills and well-being of persons deprived of liberty, the high school department of the Far Eastern University recently launched “Project HOPE”.

HOPE or Harnessing Offenders’ Personal Empowerment is a flagship program of the university in partnership with FEU-Manila’s Community Extension Services.

During the launch, at least 100 PDLs and 50 employees of the Manila City Jail Female Dormitory received health kits.

“We are honored to introduce Project HOPE to FEU High School in collaboration with FEU Manila. We are hand-in-hand in building and strengthening our holistic support to address the needs of our partner community whilst sharing the same vision and hope to the PDLs of Manila City Jail,” Elaine Relucion, project head, said.

The personal care items contributed by the FEU HS community include alcohol, bath soap, shampoo, laundry soap, tissue, toothpaste and toothbrush, and sanitary pads. Volunteers from FEU Manila and FEU High School distributed the kits.

“With Project HOPE, we adapt FEU Manila’s deep-rooted commitment of providing quality education and responsive initiatives to our partner community. We are very pleased to have this partnership and we look forward to more years of bringing service and hope to more communities,” Yolanda Langit, another project head, said.
