DNSC PLANS TO UPGRADE EDUCATION FOR INMATES
THE DAVAO del Norte State College is set to ramp up the education of inmates in a proposal submitted to the Commission on Higher Education.
In partnership with the Social Entrepreneurship Technology and Business Institute College Education Behind Bars, DNSC said additional funding has been requested for the project.
A meeting between the two institutions is set to finalize the proposal of the funding through the CHED-Institutional Development and Innovation Grants.
This will help enhance the instruction-related facilities in the College of Eduation Behind Bars classrooms inside the Davao Prison and Penal Farm.
A second campus of CEBB is being planned to be operationalized.
“The CEBB program plays an important role in the rehabilitation and preparation for re-entry of Persons Deprived of Liberty into the society,” DNSC said.
A total of 38 inmates are currently enrolled as part of the pilot batch of the program, taking up Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program, the college said.
A memorandum of agreement was signed between DNSC, represented by President Joy M. Sorrosa and other executives, SETBI by president Aland O. Mizell, and in close coordination with the Bureau of Corrections.
