DLSU STUDENTS BAG AWARDS IN TWO EVENTS
A GROUP of Manufacturing Engineering Management students of the De La Salle University won prestigious awards in two different events.
Team Float E composed of Janella Marie Cu, Anthony Kaplan, Elijah Salvert Lizares, Melonny Pearl Mendoza, and Cyreen Elyza Ramos bagged the Young Investigators Award during the 5th Philippine Solid & Hazardous Waste Management conference.
The event was held in conjunction with the 2nd International Conference on Circular Economy-based Waste Management held last December 2 to 3, 2021.
The group was mentored by Dr. Renann Baldovino.
“The conference aims to encourage international communication, collaboration, and networking to advance knowledge and promote values, attitudes, commitment, and skills needed to address emerging issues on waste management and protection of the environment,” DLSU said in a statement.
“It was attended by various national and international technical experts and policy makers in the field of solid and hazardous waste management,” it added.
The team was also the overall champion in the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools Student Engineering Design Contest for their entry titled “Float-E: Surface Water Oil-Collecting Robot.”
The award was presented during the PAES conference held on December 3 to 4, 2021.
