/ 8 May 2023

A STUDENT from the De La Salle University bagged the grand prize in the watercolor category of the Vision Petron National Student Art Competition 2022.

Shara Mae Chan was recognized for her artwork “Splash of Colors.”

She received a cash prize, special trophy designed by National Artist Napoleon Abueva and gifts from Petron.

“In a world filled with chaos and uncertainties, to dream is to hold a beacon of light not just for ourselves but also for others. Because no dream ends with just us, for dreams are meant to be shared,” Chan wrote on a Facebook post.

“To dream is to color the world in shades we like. That’s why, despite the circumstances, let us not be afraid to dream. Let us color the future in beautiful shades, not just for ourselves but for the generations to come,” she added.

The Vision Petron National Student Art Competition is an annual art contest which aims to celebrate talented youth in painting, photography and other art forms.

For the 2022 competition, categories include oil/acrylic painting, digital art and watercolor/water-based media.
