DLSU PROF EMERITUS TO RECEIVE AWARD FROM FILM DEV’T COUNCIL OF PH

A PROFESSOR emeritus from the De La Salle University will be conferred an award by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Professor Clodualdo Del Mundo, Jr. will receive the prestigious Parangal ng Sining (Honor of Art) Lifetime Achievement Award in the art of filmmaking, education, and scholarship next week.

The award is given to exemplary Filipino artists and pillars of the film industry who have dedicated their lives to mastering their craft and making significant contributions to the development of Philippine Cinema.

“Prof. Doy, as we fondly call him, founded the Department of Communication of De La Salle University and has mentored filmmakers and industry leaders in his close to five decades of teaching the profession,” DLSU said.

“He was a founding member and former chairperson of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino and has written the screenplays of Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag, Itim, Kakabakaba Ka Ba?, Kisapmata, Batch ‘81, ‘Merika, Mulanay and Bayaning 3rd World, among others,” it added.

The awarding ceremony will be held on April 19, 2024 at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City.
