/ 4 August 2023

A STUDENT from the De La Salle University Integrated School won in the World Mathematics Invitational Finals in Incheon, South Korea held last month.

Marcella Layos clinched the silver medal in the competition, besting more than 20,000 students from other countries.

WMI is the first international competition founded by Taiwan. It gathers institutes and organizations worldwide that make efforts in promoting and popularizing mathematics.

It allows students to interact with other math-loving students and expand their worldviews.

The preliminary round is held by each WMI member country or region between January and March. The students in the preliminary round who got the gold, silver and bronze medals will be invited to the final round.

All the representative teams will gather in one city to participate in the WMI final round in July.
