DLSU DENOUNCES MSU BOMBING

/ 8 December 2023

THE De La Salle University condemned Thursday the bombing at the Mindanao State University gymnasium in Marawi City last Sunday, which claimed at least four lives and injured 50 others.

In a statement, DLSU also called on authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of all students and staff.

“This senseless act of violence has inflicted deep wounds. We condemn those who seek to disrupt efforts towards religious dialogue through fear,” it said.

The school also stressed that educational institutions “must be sanctuaries of peace, where diverse voices can be heard and respected.”

“This attack is an affront to that ideal, and we stand firm in our commitment to fostering understanding and collaboration across all creeds,” DLSU said.

Meanwhile, the school extended its heartfelt sympathy to the victims of the bombing and their families and friends.

“We mourn the loss of life and offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” it said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the MSU community during this difficult time. May they find strength in their shared grief and unwavering resolve to rebuild and move forward in the pursuit of peace.”
