DE LA SALLE ZOBEL STUDENTS WIN IN LEGO ROBOTICS COMPETITION
FOR creating a model theme park, students of the De La Salle Santiago Zobel in Muntinlupa City won the Best Coding Award in the First Lego League World Championship held in Houston, Texas, USA.
The school’s “Brick Titans” was composed of Thoren Garcia, Markus Bellezza, Raphael Dollente, Brent Escalona, Carlo Ramos and Hugo Tan.
Using Lego pieces, they created a model of a sustainable community theme park powered by renewable energy.
The programming and coding skills of the students enabled them to operate the model like a real theme park. Their design was selected from 98 competing entries.
The competition seeks to draw attention to the global need for sustainable energy and to solve it through fundamental engineering.
The First Lego League encourages young people to become future engineers, scientists, and inventors by providing the opportunity to hone their knowledge in early designing, engineering and computing to expand the use of robotics in their schools and provide solutions to problems such as climate change.
