CTU STUDENTS SHINE IN NAT’L ROBOTICS TILT IN SINGAPORE
STUDENTS from Cebu Technological University clinched second place at the prestigious National Robotics Competition held earlier this week at the Science Centre Singapore.
Competing under the SMORPHI Pilot Category, the CTU team was composed of Dianne Librando, Kurt Louise Uy, Isaiah Lorenz Grafilo, and Marie Angel Serohejos.
“This remarkable accomplishment underscores CTU’s position as a globally competitive institution, proving that its robotics programs and student expertise can excel well beyond national borders,” the university said.
“It also marks history as the first institution from Cebu to participate in this prestigious competition, emerging triumphant against top universities from around the world,” it added.
The students were mentored by Prof. Jay Lester Radam and Prof. Orlando Padal, with the full support of University President Dr. Joseph Pepito.
Since 1999, the Science Centre Singapore has organized the National Robotics Competition with support from the Ministry of Education, as well as various partners and sponsors.
To date, the competition has drawn more than 68,000 participants and 250,000 supporters.
The NRC spurs interest and innovation by offering students the chance to apply what they learn in school and experience STEM hands-on through interactive and meaningful activities. In the process, students develop essential skills such as problem-solving, creative thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, and teamwork.
