CITY OF MALABON U STUDENT COUNCIL DECRIES ADMIN’S MOVE TO FORM NEW GROUP

/ 8 April 2021

THE CITY of Malabon University’s Supreme Student Council denounced the school administration’s move to form a new group of student leaders.

The council said that the administration created a group called “Diplomat Society” in a bid to replace the current slate of student leaders.

“The Supreme Student Council vehemently condemns the CMU administration’s move to replace the powers of SSC with a newly established student organization called ‘Diplomat Society’ as it brazenly violates the right of the students to form unions that are free from administrative control,” SSC said on Facebook.

“Today, class presidents were enjoined by the CMU administration to vote for the next Student Regent without the knowledge of the whole student body. By so doing, this anti-democratic activity engenders the impairment of all CMU students’ right to student independence and representation for the years to come!” it added.

Some students expressed fears that the next student representative will be a “puppet” of the administration.

The school has yet to issue a statement regarding the matter.
