CEU PROF WINS 1ST PRIZE IN INTERNATIONAL COMPOSER’S COMPETITION

IAN Gabriel Corpuz, a professor from the Centro Escolar University Conservatory of Music, secured first prize in the Young Composers Division of Chorus Austin’s 11th Annual Composer’s Competition.

His winning composition, “Laudate Dominum,” stood out among 30 entries from composers worldwide.

“Mr. Corpuz’s achievement highlights the CEU Conservatory of Music’s dedication to nurturing world-class musicians who contribute significantly to the global arts community,” the university said.

Corpuz, a seasoned composer and educator, is also affiliated with the Philippine Women’s University School of Music and the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Music Production program.

In addition to his latest win, Corpuz’s composition “Laudate Dominum” has gained international recognition, being published by Muziksea, a Singapore-based company that promotes Southeast Asian composers.

Corpuz also recently won first place for his piece “Bugtong-Bugtong” in the 3rd Annual Composition Contest hosted by The Palouse Choral Society in Moscow, Russia.
