CEU GETS FUNDING FOR RESEARCH ON MOBILE DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION
A DIABETES research from the Centro Escolar University School of Nursing has secured external funding from the Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium.
Titled “Effectiveness of Mobile Diabetes Self-Management Education (M-DSME) for Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia and Philippines,” the research aims to address the rising problem of diabetes.
Under the funding, the CEU School of Nursing research team will develop a diabetes self-care application based on the information gathered in Phase 1 of the study.
“The app will provide evidence-based tailored information in seven modules, provide reminders, utilize social media, and have an interface with a glucometer reading interpretation,” the university said.
“Ultimately, this procedure may improve health outcomes, and quality-of-life, and prevent or delay the onset of diabetes complications,” it added.
The team will be composed of CEU School of Nursing Coordinator for Community and Research Dr. Josephine de Leon, CEU School of Nursing Dean Dr. Elvira and faculty members Dr. Cresencia Santos, Joylyn Mejilla, Dr. Sofia Magdalena Robles, Anjanette De Leon, Catherine Mae Trinidad, Erljohn Gomez and May Mendiuneto.
The research team also collaborated with the Buleleng Institute of Health Sciences and Baitturahim Institute of Health Sciences in Jambi, Indonesia.
