BIOLOGY students of Centro Escolar University secured 2nd runner-up honors in the Philippine Microbiology Olympiad 2025 National Championship.

The team was composed of Faith Pacia, Jose Gabriel Nery, Robin Caparanga, and Miguel Manuel Aquino.

They were mentored by Mr. John Hermie Paul S. Cerezo, RMicro, with support from Dr. Julieta Dungca, dean of the School of Science and Technology.

Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology was crowned champion, while the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) placed 1st runner-up.

The competition was held last August at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila as the official pre-convention event of the Philippine Society for Microbiology (PSM)’s 54th Annual Convention.

The national tilt drew the country’s top universities and celebrated the next generation of Filipino microbiologists.
