CENTRAL PHILIPPINE U TO REMAIN AUTONOMOUS FOR 2 MORE YEARS
THE CENTRAL Philippine University will continue to have autonomy after the Commission on Higher Education extended its autonomous status for two more years.
The university’s status will be until May 31, 2023.
Aside from CPU, three other higher education institutions in Western Visayas maintained their autonomous status for two years — John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation- Bacolod, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, and University of St. La Salle.
CHED first granted CPU autonomous status in 2001.
Being autonomous means that an institution can develop and offer programs without having to strictly follow the procedures laid down by CHED.
The commission extended autonomous status to 71 HEIs.
