CAVITE STATE U PARTNERS WITH DOST FOR HOLDING OF ‘MAKAPUNO SUMMIT’
THE CAVITE State University partnered with the Department of Science and Technology-Calabarzon to conduct an event promoting the makapuno industry in the country.
Dubbed ‘Empowering the Stakeholders of the Philippine Makapuno Industry Amidst the Pandemic’, the occasion marks the 2nd National Makapuno Summit to be conducted virtually.
The event will be held from November 26 to 27, featuring presentations regarding the growth of the makapuno industry.
“Activities to be expected include presentation of makapuno-related research and development projects conducted in the last five years, showcase of makapuno-related products and technologies, networking among makapuno stakeholders from different sectors, a virtual tour of makapuno laboratories, and the e-launching of the tissue culture growth chamber for makapuno and coffee embryos,” the school said in a statement.
The summit will be live-streamed on Facebook to garner a wide range of audiences like makapuno farmers and processors, state universities and colleges, and other higher educational institutions, as well as government and non-government agencies.
The university houses the Makapuno Center in the region, which was granted by the DOST Calabarzon during the celebration of the Regional Science and Technology week in 2019.
