CATANDUANES STATE U TO OPEN LAW AND MEDICAL COURSES

/ 27 June 2023

THE CATANDUANES State University said it will offer law and medical courses beginning August 2024.

Dr. Patrick Alaine Azanza, CatSU president, said that the school will submit and comply with the needed requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education so that the programs will be offered next year.

“CHED will only conduct the screening and review of the documents as it will be the Law Education Board which will approve the application,” he said.

In the College of Law, a new dean’s office, an activity center, mock courtroom, seminar hall and airconditioned classrooms equipped with WiFi, screen projector and multimedia smart screen will be established.

Meanwhile, the law library will be housed in a separate section at the existing university library.

On the planned Medicine Program, Azanza said that the launch of the new course complies with a new CHED regulation that permits medicine courses focused on family medicine and community practice to be approved without having to have a tertiary hospital as a partner.

“The subjects and cases to be studied will be different from that of a traditional medicine course,” he said.

CatSU and the Bicol University College of Medicine agreed to share resources and facilities, from the faculty and library to its hospital for training.
