CATANDUANES STATE U SHIFTS TO SOILLESS FARMING

/ 9 February 2022

THE CATANDUANES State University unveiled its plan to move forward with soilless farming as part of its development program.

CatSU said that it will adopt the new farming system through the use of hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics.

It said that the initiative will help expose its students to agricultural systems and at the same time help farmers by modernizing the agricultural system.

The project will grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs using automated monitoring and control growth parameters.

It will also use LED lights for fewer carbon footprints.

“A well-managed soilless food production system is said to provide higher yields with fewer needed resources. It is also easier for growers to troubleshoot, isolate or eliminate plants in case of growth problems,” CatSU said.
