CATANDUANES STATE U JOINS UMAP EXCHANGE STUDENT PROGRAM

/ 2 December 2020

THE CATANDUANES State University has inked an agreement with the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific International Secretariat based in Japan to boost efforts to internationalize the university.

Dr. Joseph Zafe, director for International Relations and Continuing Professional Development Services, said that the university joined the Multilateral Student Exchange Program through the UMAP represented by Dr. Etsuko Yaguchi.

Under the agreement, participating exchange students will be selected by the host university but will be limited to two per semester.

“The university will participate in Program A, but it does not prevent its students from participating in Program B and/or Super Short-Term Programs (Program C) before the university hosts or participates in Program A,” the CSU said.

Zafe said that under the pledge of agreement, exchange students shall be permitted to stay at the host university no longer than one year and will not be charged any fees for examinations, admission and tuition at the host university.

Exchange students may enroll in any course or class offered by the host university, except courses with specific requirements determined by the university.

Participating universities will accept credits and transfer credits earned by students from the exchange program via the UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme.

UMAP is a voluntary association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education sector, particularly countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region. It has 22 member universities.
