CAMARINES SUR POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE STUDENTS WIN IN CAD EDITION COMPETITION
CIVIL Engineering students of the Camarines Sur Polytechnic College were hailed as champions in the recently held Executives’ Challenge XVI: CAD Edition, a design proposal competition spearheaded by the Engineering Congress.
The team, composed of Christian Goronal, Joshua Cedilla, Jomer Peñones and coach Engr. Edna P. Montañez, created “Kulob,” a 3D-type design of an amphibious house that could save lives during a typhoon.
The students said the design was inspired by Archimedes’ principle of buoyancy.
“The participants were tasked to submit a typhoon-resilient house design proposal which is supposed to improve the disaster risk management system of the country,” CSPC said.
The team won a cash prize of P15,000.
Meanwhile, the team from the Bulacan State University was the first-runner up while the University of the East-Caloocan team was named second-runner up.
The other participants were from the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, Central Mindanao University, Laguna State Polytechnic University, Florencio L. Vargas College Inc. in Cagayan, and Technological University of the Philippines-Manila.
