BULACAN STATE U AMONG WORLD’S TOP SCHOOLS ON GREEN CAMPUS, ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
THE BULACAN State University was included in the list of top education institutions for 2023 based on the latest UI Greenmetric World University Rankings.
UIGWUR is a ranking on green campus and environmental sustainability of world universities which is determined by six criteria. It was initiated by the Universitas Indonesia in 2010.
BulSU was ranked 684th across the globe and landed 13th in the Philippines.
The school also secured a second spot in Central Luzon.
This year, 1,183 universities across the globe were ranked on three pillars of sustainability: Environmental, Social, and Economic.
To assess the schools, the UIGWUR used six indicators — transportation, water usage, waste management, setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, and education and research.
“We selected criteria that are generally considered to be of importance by universities concerned with sustainability,” the UIGWUR said on its website.
“These include the collection of basic information on the size of the university and its zoning profile, whether urban, suburban, or rural. Beyond this, we would like to see the degree of green space. The next category of information concerns electricity consumption because of its link to our carbon footprint,” it added.
