PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila President Emmanuel Leyco urged authorities to intensify efforts to control the spread of Covid19.

“Kailangang dagdagan ang ating mga healthcare solutions. Lockdowns per se will not be effective kung hindi mas magiging agresibo ang testing, pagku-quarantine at pagbibigay ng bakuna,” he said.

He added that the pandemic is the biggest threat to the economy.

“Malinaw na ang pinakamabigat na bagahe sa ating ekonomiya ngayon ay ang pandemya. Kailangang makontrol natin ito,” Leyco said.

“Tuloy-tuloy ang paglaki ng mga kaso at dahil dito, hindi makakilos ang ating mga negosyo, ang mga manggagawa,” he added.

He said that if the government will continue to resort to lockdowns, additional cash aid must be given to the poorest families to get them through the period where they cannot go to work and earn a living.
