BIPSU TRAINS STUDENTS TO HELP PEERS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS

/ 6 May 2022

THE BILIRAN Province State University’s Guidance and Counseling Services Office trained its students to help their peers with mental health concerns.

A three-day training was conducted at the University Hostel in a bid to provide assistance and psychosocial support services to those who need them.

The students were selected based on their willingness to help their peers.

“Very important an kanilang role because there are students who cannot open up their problems to their teacher or to their guidance counselors, yet they feel comfortable talking it out with their peers,” University Guidance Counselor Jocelyn C. Caing said.

The university rolled out the program to give assistance to students who continue to struggle because of the Covid19 pandemic.

It said that students should be mentally stable to be able to focus on their lessons.
