THE COMMISSION on Higher Education-Maritime Industry Authority approved the application of Biliran Province State University to offer Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation.
The approval came after CHED conducted inspection and validation of the university and found it was compliant with documentary requirements, equipment and facilities relative.
Within three consecutive days, the university was evaluated by MARINA and CHED headed by the evaluation and inspection team Lead Evaluator of the Maritime Industry Authority Dr. Ninfa Martinez, with Magz Marielle Ruiz, Dr. Marvin Japitana, CHED Central Office Representative Jorel Ramirez, Narciso Candeza, Joebert Sobrevega, and Cydric Suyom.
Martinez said there was a great transformation in the university in terms of infrastructures and buildings.
“From the evaluation that we had conducted, really, we must have to do our very best, and we did our job as subjectively as possible and BiPSU was so prepared so you were able to comply with the requirements needed,” Martinez said.
“BiPSU must do the same, they should not let themselves become complacent, they should always be up to date also, and even for the students,” she added.
As one of the members of the validation team, Ramirez shared BiPSU can sustain the existence of the Maritime program, and think there are still areas needed to be developed and improved to gain the support of the industry partners.
The results of the three-day validation and inspection will be submitted to the Commission en Banc for confirmation and approval.
