BILL FILED TO ESTABLISH CNU CAMPUS IN ARGAO

/ 19 January 2025

A PROPOSED bill to establish a campus of Cebu Normal University in the Municipality of Argao, southern Cebu, has been filed in the House of Representatives.

Cebu Second District Representative Edsel Galeos introduced House Bill 11258, which aims to enhance access to higher education for residents of Argao and surrounding areas.

“It will also improve infrastructure, provide additional resources for academic programs, and secure increased funding for research initiatives and extracurricular activities, benefiting both students and faculty,” Galeos said.

The bill proposes that the CNU-Argao campus will offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including education, tourism, science and technology, ICT, nautical studies, maritime education, artificial intelligence, and data management.

Other fields of study include forestry, environmental conservation, livelihood technology education, criminology, engineering, electronics, business and economics, food technology, marine sciences, renewable energy, disaster risk reduction, and more.

To ensure high-quality nursing, law, and medical programs, the campus will implement a 2+2 model, where students will complete two years at CNU-Argao and finish their degrees at the CNU Main Campus.
