BICOL UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT RULES OUT FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES
NO face-to-face classes will be held at the Bicol University until students and school staff get inoculated against Covid19, its president said.
Dr. Arnulfo Mascariñas said that he does not want to risk the health and welfare of students and faculty.
“Although the Department of Education is now thinking of conducting some pilot testing for face-to-face, I would not dare venture into that,” Mascariñas said.
“If we venture into face-to-face meeting next year, I’ll be glad to invest on vaccines, we could vaccinate all our students and personnel so we can proceed with face-to-face classes but without that, I do not want to risk your health and security,” he added.
The Commission on Higher Education said the conduct of limited in-person classes would be optional for colleges and universities.
It said physical classes will only cover lessons that are difficult to teach online.
CHED chief Prospero de Vera said the guidelines on the conduct of face-to-face classes will be issued within the month.
Limited face-to-face classes will start in January.
