BICOL U TO CREATE LEGAL AID CLINIC
THE COLLEGE of Law of the Bicol University will establish a legal aid clinic to help the poor deal with legal concerns.
The BU Board of Regents approved the measure creating the legal clinic, which will also help institutionalize the legal education program.
The university said that the clinic will also help its students as it will give them hands-on experience in dealing with cases.
The decision is in adherence to the Revised Rule 138-A of the Supreme Court to give students clinical legal education courses to take the Bar examinations.
Last month, the Legal Education Board awarded the BU law department with a certificate of government recognition.
This gives the college accreditation to confer degrees and titles on students and endorse them to the Office of the Bar Confidant for the Bar Examinations.
