BICOL U RECEIVES GRANT FOR SMART CAMPUS PROJECT
THE COMMISSION on Higher Education has given the Bicol University a P24.1-million grant for the implementation of its Smart Campus Development project.
BU said the funding will be used to improve its Information and Technology infrastructure, facilities and Learning Management System.
The money will also be used for the installation of underground fiber-optic lines, structured cabling in various university buildings and the installation of the secondary internet service provider.
The project also includes the procurement of firewall license for cybersecurity and subscription to LMS hosting sites.
Officials from BU led by Dr. Aris J. Ordoñez, BU Information and Communication Technology Office director, sent a proposal to CHED for the project.
Only 19 of the 111 State Universities and Colleges that applied for the grant have received funding from CHED.
