THE BICOL University has a new president — Baby Boy Benjamin Nebres III.

The BU Board of Regents elected the institution’s 9th president during the board meeting at the Commission on Higher Education.

Nebres, 47, will succeed Arnulfo Mascarias, whose term will end on March 8.

Nebres, who earned his doctorate degree at BU in 2008, is the dean of the Office of Student Affairs and Services.

The other candidates for the position were vice president for administration and finance Joseph Bartolata, administrator of the Center for Technology Commercialization and Enterprise Development Arnulfo Malinis, dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Lawyer Alex Nepomuceno and dean of the College of Medicine Dr. Ofelia Samay-Sy.
