BATSTATEU, LIMA LAND, ABOITIZ SEAL MICROCREDENTIAL DEAL

/ 16 February 2026

BATANGAS  State University has partnered with LIMA Land Inc. and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. to strengthen workforce competitiveness in the province’s key industrial corridor.

A memorandum of agreement was signed last week between the university, a leading industrial estate developer, and the Aboitiz Group’s foundation to roll out industry-responsive microcredential programs for professionals in the LIMA community.

Recognized as the Philippines’ sole National Engineering University under Republic Act No. 11694, BatStateU institutionalized its Microcredentialing Program through Board of Regents Resolution No. 06, s. 2023 and launched it during the Government-University-Industry Leaders Summit on October 14, 2023.

The university’s microcredentials are stackable, skills-focused courses co-developed, co-delivered, and co-assessed with industry partners.

Programs cover high-demand fields such as data science, cybersecurity, networking, Internet of Things, geographic information systems, building information modeling, project planning using Primavera P6, and occupational safety and health.

Under the agreement, LIMA Land will endorse employees from its locators for enrollment, while Aboitiz Foundation will provide financial support for training costs, ensuring that the programs meet real-time industry requirements.

University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo joined Aboitiz Group officials, including Mr. Clifford M. Academia, in highlighting that the collaboration advances engineering education beyond the classroom and strengthens academe-industry synergy to support national competitiveness.
