BATANGAS STATE U PARTNERS WITH BCRMF ON YOUTH-LED ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT

/ 1 April 2023

THE BATANGAS State University-The National Engineering University and the Batangas Coastal Resources Management Foundation have joined forces to implement a youth-led environmental solutions project.

Officials of BatState-U-The NEU and BCRMF signed a Memorandum of Agreement to launch Batangas Social Innovation Challenge last March 20.

The initiative aims to encourage Batangueño youth “to proactively take responsibility for their environment by promoting social innovations that address environmental challenges in Batangas province.”

Under the project, young people aged 18 to 30 who are passionate about improving the environment and their community can present their ideas on environmental innovations.

“Designed to create a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, and multicultural approach to addressing environmental issues in the province, BASIC will also involve its participants in intensive design thinking workshops, proposal writing write shops, group mentoring, and a proposal pitching competition as part of the project,” BatStateU-The NEU said.

The top five social innovations that address environmental issues in the province will receive P100,000.

“Overall, this collaborative project of BatStateU-The NEU and BCRMF is an encouraging step in fostering social innovation in the Philippines and an inspiring move towards a more sustainable future,” the university said.
