BATANGAS STATE U HOSTS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

THE BATANGAS State University hosted the 3rd International Energy and Electricity Market Business Decision Simulation Online Competition, the first school to host the event outside China.

The competition was initiated by the Shanghai University of Electric Power in 2019.

China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines participated in the event that aims to enhance the business application and innovation capabilities of students in the energy and electric power industry.

A total of 29 teams from various universities participated in the competition.

Five teams composed of Electrical Engineering students from BatStateU represented the Philippines.

The virtual competition also aims to build a platform of international friendship among students from all over the world.

Senator Joel Villanueva, the keynote speaker, praised the partnership between BatStateU and SUEP in leveraging digital technology to foster student innovation and global friendship and camaraderie.

“I am confident that this international competition will substantially prepare our students for the world of work where business decision-making is a very critical component,” Villanueva said.

BatStateU President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo shared the significant impact of the competition in strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship mindset of students.

“This will engage students in real-life cases in power business and other related innovations that are needed in the future energy and power industry market,” Ronquillo said.
