ATENEO STUDENTS TOP INT’L BUSINESS COMPETITION

/ 13 December 2020

A GROUP of Ateneo de Manila University students emerged as overall champion in the 10th Creative Shock Social Business Case competition held recently.

The winning team from the John Gokongwei School of Management was composed of Justin Einer Go, Angelika Mari Gultia, Sebastian Narciso, and Jaime Luciano Siy.

The group competed against 290 teams representing 85 countries, including participants from universities of Oxford, Toronto, Harvard, and Manchester.

Aimed to challenge students’ strategic thinking in dealing with social businesses, the competition has the theme ‘Business that Challenges,’ which reflects the complexities and difficulties social businesses have to contend with.

The event provides students access to real-life global social models, a great opportunity to put into practice their skills and knowledge developed as part of their business management and management engineering courses.

“Joining a case competition like this was such a unique experience for us. It was admittedly daunting being with other amazing students from esteemed universities across the globe,” the team said.

“Nonetheless, we believed in ourselves and pressed forward with our best after applying what we were taught in classes like FINN 115, MKTG 111, LAS 21, and what we learned from previous case competitions here in the Philippines. We’re humbled by this win and hopefully, it will inspire everyone to go for learning opportunities like this,” they added.

The 10th Creative Shock Social Business Case competition was organized by the Students’ Association of ISM University of Management and Economics in Lithuania.
