ATENEO DE MANILA U BUILDINGS LOCKED DOWN

/ 29 September 2021

THREE buildings in the Ateneo de Manila University, including the Loyola House of Studies, were locked down after staff and several seminarians contracted Covid19.

Fr. Emmanuel “Nono” Alfonso, SJ, executive director of Jesuit Communications, said that one priest was taken to the hospital while the rest are asymptomatic.

He said that 19 seminarians tested positive for Covid19.

Alfonso said that the university believed that the virus came from staff members because the seminarians were not allowed to go outside.

“Meron pong pumapasok siyempre ‘yung mga staff, kusinero, maintenance. ‘Yun po ‘yung suspicion ng aming doktor baka dun po nanggaling ‘yung virus,” he said.

“‘Yun po kasing mga religious priests and seminarians nga, meron silang tinatawag na community life. Sama-samang kumakain, sama-samang nagsisimba kaya medyo ‘yun ang kailangan naming i-adjust,” he added.

He said that everyone on campus had been vaccinated against Covid19.
