ASCOT TO HELP ESTABLISH MENTAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN AURORA PROVINCE
THE AURORA State College of Technology and the provincial government of Aurora joined forces to provide mental health care system in the province.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties last Friday for the establishment of help desks that will offer service 24/7 to support people with mental health concerns.
ASCOT was represented by several officials while the provincial government was represented by the officer-in-charge of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Abigaiel F. Paulino, among other officials.
Part of the project is the establishment of a suicide prevention hotline, providing specialized services for handling individuals with mental health concerns, and conducting training for mental health care providers and workers.
ASCOT and the provincial government will also roll out a campaign to help raise public awareness on the promotion and protection of mental health and nutrition and handling stress.
Mental health practitioners from the college will provide psychosocial support services during calamities.
