ANGELES STUDENTS TOP CLIMATE CHANGE QUIZ SHOW

A DUO from the Angeles City Science High School dominated 16 students from different schools nationwide to emerge as winners in the Battle of the Brain Corals (BOBC), a climate change quiz bee held recently.

As part of the celebration of the 4th National Climate Change Conference, the Department of Education-Disaster Risk Reduction Management Service, Save Philippine Seas and Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation Inc.   teamed up and conducted the online quiz bee that was live-streamed on DepEd’s Facebook page on November 21.

Ynarenza Pauline Bulatao and Chito Arceo Jr. topped the contest.

Bulatao said she did not expect to win.

Bulatao, a member of Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines, also said it is important to discuss climate change.

Meanwhile, Jude Lourence Segovia and Erl Lozada of La Consolacion College-Bacolod placed second  with 42 points, followed by Eric Las and Edessa Coralde of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod 39 score.

Other contestants came from Samar National School, Muntindilaw National High School, Dipolog City National High School, Ramon Magsaysay National High School, Kidapawan City National High School, and Santiago City National High School.

The online quiz show had three rounds. It featured questions about climate change including Earth’s subsystems, climate science, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and interconnectedness of climate change and wildlife.
