ALUMNI GROUP SEEKS DISMISSAL OF TEACHER ACCUSED OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT

/ 16 December 2020

SEVERAL alumni of the Angono Private High School have called for the sacking of a faculty member who had been sexually harassing students.

The group also called for an investigation.

Some of the alleged victims posted online the messages of the teacher asking for sexual favors.

“We urge the school administration to dismiss him from his position as an educator of the institution,” the alumni said.

They pointed out that the issue has been reported to school officials before but no action was taken.

“For the second time, the survivors are struggling to find peace and light in the situation as the perpetrator continues to teach and interact with the students. This is counterproductive of the institution’s efforts of honing strong moral values, holistic development, and providing students a learning environment that fosters upright citizenship,” the group said in a statement.

“We demand not only proper, fair and transparent investigation on the incidents but also the creation of effective protection mechanisms for the survivors and students,” it added.

The APHS vowed to inquire into the matter, saying that it does not tolerate illegal acts.

“The welfare of our students is the primary concern of the institution. Rest assured that the offenses committed by anyone in the school community are dealt with in observance of due process and according to the provisions of the regulations for private schools,” the school said.
