ALL-GENDER RESTROOM INSTALLED AT THE PANGASINAN STATE U IN LINGAYEN
THE PANGASINAN State University in Lingayen installed a restroom for all genders and persons with disabilities as part of its development plan to provide safe spaces that advocate inclusivity and respect for all.
“PSU is a gender-friendly university. We, the members of the LGBT Community inside the university, are fully accepted and allowed to cross-dress. Installing a LGBT restroom in the university is like giving us the freedom to be who we are,” said Shayzon Mayr delos Santos, a LBGTQ student.
The university is known to be one of the strong advocates of Gender and Development as shown by its commitment in staging various seminars and projects to raise awareness about gender parity.
“In fact, last November 9, the GAD unit conducted a Webinar on Integrating Gender in Education which focused on sustaining the ideals of inclusive education by appreciating diversity in gender within the academic context,” the university said.
Last year, the university celebrated the region’s biggest pride festivity dubbed “Rainbow Connection” which was participated in by hundreds of LGBTQ supporters.
