ADMU RESUMES SEMESTRAL ORGANIZING OF COURSES

/ 26 May 2021

THE ATENEO de Manila University will resume the semestral organizing of courses for teaching in School Year 2021-2022, the Office of the Vice President said.

In a memorandum, VP Maria Luz Vilchez said that the university will follow an online semestral system starting the first semester of SY 2021-2022.

“Having perused all the feedback from different consultation activities, the Vice President’s Council has decided that we are now ready to resume to a semestral mode of organizing our courses for teaching SY 2021-2022. Doing so, will also make us go back slowly to the August-December first semester and the January-May second semester,” Vilchez said.

“Because we are continuing our online mode of teaching and learning in SY 2021-2022, the semestral arrangement of courses in this context will certainly not be the same as when we were teaching onsite,” she added.

She said that semestral online learning will observe measures such as 48 to 60 learning hours per three-unit course, at least one synchronous class per week and the allocation of two weeks for the final assessment process.

Since the shift to distance learning in 2020, ADMU decided on a quarterly organizing of courses. The school reported that students and faculty members have expressed positive feedback because of the policy’s leniency.
