Binatikos ng Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan ang Adamson University matapos pumutok ang isyu na nagkaroon ng kawalan ng privacy ng mga estudyante sa Respondus Lockdown Browser na ginagamit sa online classes.

Ayon sa grupo, sa halip na unahin ang “well-being” at “mental health” ng mga estudyante ay dumagdag pa ito sa bigat nararamdaman ng mga estudyante na dulot ng pandemya at online classes.

“School administrations, on the other hand, remain concerned only with student performance and not with their well-being.

Such is the case at Adamson University, where, instead of choosing to address their students’ mental health, well-being, and learning capacities, the administration instead chooses to crack down even harder on its students,” saad ng grupo.

Dagdag pa nito na malinaw na mas inuuna pa ng unibersidad ang performance ng mga estudyante imbis na ang kanilang mental health.

“This repulsive move by the university administration only proves that it only cares about students’ assessments, and not their learning. Even on the most basic level, knowing that they are being watched while taking the examination can cause anxiety in students who know that even looking in the wrong direction could cost them their grades,” dagdag ng SPARK.

Nauna nang inulan ng mga estudyante ng batikos ang unibersidad dahil sa mga nasabing dahil ayon sa mga ito ay nabura ang kanilang mga data matapos nilang ininstall ito sa kanilang nga devices.

Ang Respondus ay ang bagong software na gagamitin ng AdU para sa kanilang online classes.

Samantala, agad namang nagbigay ng pahayag ang AdU ukol dito at nilinaw na ligtas ang pag-install nito.

“Our office verified with Respondus and they assured that installing the application is totally safe,” saad ng Adamson University Center for Innovative Learning sa isang official post.

Ayon din sa unibersidad matagal ng ginagamit itong Lockdown Browser kung kaya’t ligtas itong gamitin ng mga estudyante.

“Lockdown Browser has been distributed for over 13 years and is used to take over 100 million online exams annually. It is widely implemented at over 1,500 universities, hundreds of school districts, and thousands of certification and testing centers. There has never been a situation where Respondus has distributed a Lockdown Browser that had a virus/malware attached to it, nor does Lockdown Browser ‘destroy’ students’ computers. It’s unlikely this was an issue with Lockdown Browser itself,” dagdag nito.
