/ 21 July 2023

FIVE students from the Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City placed second in the International Business Model Student Competition.

BS Civil Engineering majors John Bryan Palmes, Nica Ella Tabuena, Dana Loise Santos, Trisha Tanglao, and Cejay Asas created a business plan “Reusing Greywater,” which aims to filter greywater to be used in landscaping, gardening, and cleaning.

They bested 40 other teams from six countries.

The students were guided by College of Business education faculty member James Paul Menina, who served as their coach.

Organized by the International Association of University Presidents, the competition invites undergraduate students enrolled in a BA or a BS in IAUP member institutions to participate in the creation of business models that contribute to the fulfillment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set forth in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“Students can participate by generating an innovative business model that addresses unmet needs or problems arising in national or international contexts, with products or services that fulfill at least one objective of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development while considering national and international development policies,” the IAUP said in its website.
