FOUR student journalists from the Catanduanes State University’s official campus publication, Statesman clinched several awards from the Liyab X: Regional Journalism and Arts Festival 2023 in Naga City.

Norman De Guzman, a senior writer, bagged the first spot for the category of News Writing in Filipino Medium. Michael Angelo Delim, a junior writer, secured second place in the category of English Feature Writing.

On the other hand, Ver Joshua Saberola and Louise Tioxon won third place in Photojournalism in English medium and Filipino medium respectively.

The campus journalists won awards among hundreds of participants from the 12 publications across the Bicol region.

Fourteen students joined the competition with their adviser Professor Francis John B. Templonuevo at the Ateneo De Naga University from November 15 to 18.

After a three-year hiatus, Liyab X was once again organized by Pillars Publication of the Ateneo De Naga University to empower artists and campus journalists of the Bicol region.
